Getting ready for school...

So how are things going for you all? Are you getting ready for school? I know in our house this year there will be some changes. We have homeschooled our girls since the beginning, except for 1.5 years my 2 older girls went to a christian school, because I was pregnant and very, very sick.

Anyway, this year my hubby decided it would be good to let our 2 younger daughters that are school age to go to a christian school that just started up at our old church. I have mixed feelings about it, but I know my littlier ones will really enjoy it. I will however still homeschool my 2 older daughters as well as keep up with my soon to be 3yr old. My hubby thinks I should take a little break from homeschooling all of them, because for the better part of the last 2.5 years, I was a single mom of sort....he was away working in New Orleans doing clean up for FEMA, and didn't' get to come home very often. It was extremely stressful on me during that time, to have to take care of everything...and as much as I will miss my 2 littles ones going off to school, I will probaby enjoy having a little break. We live about 1/2 mile from the school, and I can help at the school on days I have open, so I think it will all work out nicely. :)

My 2 older daughters are in Jr. High, and I am looking forward to working with them more on their studies. We will be doing some unit studies this year, and I think that will be a lot of fun for them also.

If you homeschool, what style of homeschooling do you do? I plan on doing unit studies for everything except math & english. I have separate curriculum for that. The other subjects will be covered thru our unit studies.

I would love to hear how you all plan your homeschooling year, and what style you do. Make sure to leave me a comment about it!

Have a blessed day!

Jackie

  1. I homeschooled for 15 years on and off. Now I only have one in school. It is a local Christian school. I used Abeka and loved it. I also have used video and taught straight from the book-I loved the video method. I have not tried unit studies. I don't think I would have liked that for our children, but they were 5 years apart in age. Anyway, it really is a great thing to do when you can.

By-the-way, I haven't received the purse yet. I hope it didn't get lost in the mail. I have really looked forward to getting it.
